Bereavement Counselling
'No one ever told me grief felt so like fear.'
C.S Lewis
When someone close to us dies we may feel like a stranger in the world. All that is known and familiar to us is taken away and we have to find a new way of being.

But before this happens, we must face the grief and loneliness of life without the one we loved. It is a bewildering and painful time, made more so by the fact that everything around us continues unaffected.
This can be a frightening experience as we lose our bearings. We may feel overwhelmed and unable to let the force of grief do its work.
Those who have experienced previous trauma may suffer even more deeply as the shock of their loss confirms in them the fear that life is only uncertain and painful.
Others may suffer grief complicated by life circumstances. Estrangement or separation due to abuse and neglect, a life changing injury or loss of home because of war or natural disaster may leave people in a state of unresolved or disenfranchised grief.
In all these circumstances, particular care and support may be needed to help people re-establish a sense of hope and agency in their sorrow.
Koru therapists, specialising in bereavement and complex bereavement counselling are able to come alongside each person to support them through the process of grief.
Practitioners will use creative arts techniques to provide structure and a safe place for the healing work of tears as clients begin to take the first steps of their new and unfamiliar life.
