Sports Mentoring
'Movement is medicine for creating change in a person’s physical, emotional and mental states.'
Carol Welch-Baril
Sports mentoring is key in addressing the interaction between mind and body to enable improved self-awareness, emotional regulation and well-being.

Movement and sports enable clients to become attuned to their physicality and to release tension held in the body as a result of trauma or anxiety.
Mentors work with individuals or groups and alongside other specialists to provide a range of movement and sports activities in a therapeutic context. They encourage clients to learn new skills and develop stamina and confidence through persistence and practise.
Group sports foster positive social relationships and a sense of belonging which supports improved emotional and physical well-being.
Individual sessions create a safe and non-threatening space to talk and express emotion. Sports activities form the focus of sessions and so clients can choose to share their experience when they are ready and when a foundation of trust has been established.
The attentive listening and support of the mentor allows clients to feel heard, valued and understood. This helps to restore self-worth and enables clients to meet the circumstances of their lives with increased resilience and hope.
